We are pleased to announce another record year for the year ended 31 March 2007. Income generated was £932,652 up by 11% over the previous year. Our research expenditure increased to £522,614 and we managed to keep our administration costs to just 6% of our total year.
During the year we received our largest ever donation of £190,000 from ICAP . This was achieved at their record breaking Charity Day in December 2006, where we were one of the twelve charities chosen for support. Fundraising increased througout the UK and umbrella groups increased from 17 to 28.
Our Patrons gave us great support during the year with Sandy Lyle and Fiona Fullerton making personal appearances at the ICAP Charity Day. Jonny Wilkinson, Dawn French, Fiona Fullerton and Earl Spencer were invaluable in helping us in our national media campaign.
Our research programme produced some excellent results during the year with two projects winning poster awards at international conferences. Due to the successful year we will be increasing our research programme substantially in 2008. We are fast approaching the magic £1 million annual research expenditure a year which means that we can apply to become a National Cancer Research Institute partner. This means we will be one of the top ten organisations for research expenditure in the UK which will give us increased lobbying power and our research will be assimilated in the NCRI database.
I am only too aware that none of this would be possible without the ongoing, committed support of all those who fundraise for the Charity. The Charity has an excellent team of staff and volunteers who worked very hard during the year to make the Trust a success; my thanks to them all.
