Bradley Chilton Fund

return to Umbrella Groups

Bradley Chilton FundBradley had everything to live for but at such a young age he was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multiforma Grade IV and his family were told the tumour was inoperable. Sadly Bradley died in the early hours of Saturday 7th May; he was only 9 years old.

Dean, Bradley’s Dad was told two months earlier that Bradley prognosis was very poor and he only had between 6 to 8 months to live and at best 12 to 18 months. Devastating news. Unfortunately, the hospital did not tell the family that the tumour could at any time bleed and this is what happened and Bradley was found dead in bed.

Dean, Dianne and sister Eboney (aged 6) and brother Bailey (now 2) wanted to do something positive in Bradley’s memory and they have set up an umbrella account within the charity to raise funds specifically for research into GBMs.

Bradley and his Dad were keen Chelsea supporters and on the day Bradley died he was going to meet his hero Frank Lampard. They had VIP tickets to watch Chelsea v Charlton and then watch the presentation of the premiership cup. Dean is hoping to get Frank Lampard to come along to a future event and present the Bradley Chilton Charity Shield.

A couple of events have now taken place and more events are planned for the future. Bradley’s Aunties are already collecting money; we sent them collecting tins which are a great way of fundraising and so easy. People always have loose change in their purse or wallet and they are ideal to put out at events too.

Here are details of one of their recent fundraising exploits!

Before they started During the process

Dianne, Bradley's mum decided that having her head shaved might inspire people to sponsor her, and she was right. £900 was raised! Including money from Beaver Green Primary School in Ashford, Kent.. The head shave took place in Stanhope Square and lots of Dean and Dianne's friends turned up to support and encourage her.
