Simon Gaynor Fund
Simon Gaynor died at the age of 37 from a cancerous brain tumor in March 2005. He was diagnosed with this tumor 3 years before and fought it so bravely and with an amazing amount of dignity. He is greatly missed by all his family but especially his wife Lisa and his mother and father Annette and Roy.
Simon was a lively, witty, generous person. He was loved by everyone who met him and was always laughing and joking. He was a terrible tease!
He loved playing his guitar and was part of band. When he was younger he played a lot of football but had retired to be an armchair supporter of Leeds United.
Simon’s family have set up a fund in his memory in the hope that in the future treatments can be developed to cure tumors so that other families can be saved the pain of losing a loved one.
Fundraising
I've started, so I'll finish!
Jacqui Green started a Coast to Coast walk back in 2005 but was unable to complete this due to an injury. Undaunted she is going to try again in 2008 and has set up a Justgiving page for sponsorship donations. Please be generous.
The Body Shop in Littlehampton have been working hard to raise money for three charities during 2007. SDBTT Simon Gaynor Fund will receive a third of what is raised and their overall target is £15,000! As at April 07 they have already achieved a total of £5,000 so their target looks to be realistic. Well done to everyone who has or will take part during the year. Laura Cook is co-ordinating the fundraising. She tells us that they have had a number of very interesting events - product sales, yoga classes, Valentine's party and of course the great Easter Bunny Challenge run by the Fragrance team (don't ask!)
Planned for the future are:
Roy Gaynor, Simon's father has performed two concerts in his son's memory and raised a lot of money for the Fund. Roy plays with his ex-band mates and by all accounts everyone has a wonderful time listening and partying the night away!
